Children’s Dentistry

Applebaum Dental offers children’s dentistry to families living in and around Riverside, RI. Children have different needs than adults, and it can be challenging to find a dental practice that understands and respects that. Our staff is skilled at providing the specialized dental care that children require while helping them feel at ease in the dentist chair.

As a parent, you play an important role in your child’s dental health. Good oral care and diet begins at home so it is especially important to help your child stay motivated and enthusiastic in caring for their teeth. By establishing good dental care habits at a young age, your child can have a lifetime of good oral health.

Did you know…

that early childhood caries is the most common chronic disease in American children? It is far more prevalent than other common childhood illnesses, such as asthma. Furthermore, tooth decay and gum disease that begin early in life is likely to progress over time, potentially leading to a lifetime of oral complications.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should I bring my child to the dentist?

Dr. Appelbaum recommends that children should begin seeing a dentist at 3 years of age, unless you suspect there may be a problem. At your child’s first visit the hygienists will clean your child’s teeth and educate them on proper brushing and flossing techniques. Dr. Appelbaum will meet with you at the conclusion of the visit to examine your child’s teeth, gums and jaw and address any concerns you may have. Children should continue to visit the dentist two times per year throughout childhood to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
